Happenings in 2008:

On Jun. 20, 2008, with the arrangement of Justice Institute of Xiamen City, Director George TU from the ULCC made a speech with the topic of “Integrating Justice Administrative Resource, Service and Construction of Xiamen” on the campaign of going hand in hand with Justice Institute. It was highly appreciated by professional brethren and Administrative Departmetn of Justice Institute.

On May 12, 2008, the 2008 Sichuan Earthquake shook Wenchuan County. It strucked China. Wenchuan Earthquake with M8 brough great sadness and pains to the epic victims. After bic disater of snow, Chinese people encountered terrific trouble. Mr. George, director of our ULC, heard about news of Wenchuan Earthquake, and then he immediately decided to donate RMB 10,000.00 to the epic victims for earthquake relief. At the call of our ULC, to carry forward the fine tradition of our national culture, all the staff from our ULC donated money to victims.

On May 10, 2008, at the invitation of Red Cross of Lianqian Sub-street, Siming District and Qianpu South Residential Community, RAO Xiaoying, LIU Fang, CHENG Wangli and LIN Xiufeng, lawyers from our ULC, participated in the campaign of memorizing the 61st World Red Cross Day with the theory of “Work Together to Create Harmonious Society”, and answered questions from citizens. It got great response.

On May 4, 2008, at the invitation of the Fujian Provincial commission of Chinese Communist Youth League, in the campaign of “Building Leading Zone, Pioneering by Youths” for memorizing the 89th anniversary of May 4th Movement, Mr. George, director of our ULC, participated in this campaign and accepted the honor certificate of “Top Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers of Fujian Province” which is issued by leaders from Fujian Province.

On Apr. 30, 2008, at the invitation of Xiamen YMCA and Zhongshan Residential Community, CHENG Wangli, ZHUANG Huayang and several lawyers from our ULC participated in “Service to Community by Volunteers from Zhongshan Residential Community” which is held in Zhongshan Road. This campaign got great response from citizens.

On Apr. 29, 2008, with the invitation of Workers’ Union of Siming District, HUANG Xiuwen, YANG Xiaoling and ZHUANG Huayang, lawyers form our ULC, participated in the consultation campaign of “Workers’ Union is Your Friend, Rights Maintaining Accompany with You”. This campaign got great response from citizens and farmer workers.

On Apr. 26, 2008, with the invitation of Economic & Trade Development Bureau of Xiamen City and Intellectual Property Right Bureau, Mr. George and Mr. ZENG Jian and several lawyers from our ULC participated in the consultation campaign of “Maintaining Intellectual Property Right” which is held in the square of Dazheng Computer. This campaign got great response from citizens.

On Apr. 25, 2008, head of Lawyers Department of Justice Bureau of Lawyers Association of Kunming City, Yunnan Province, chief secretary of Lawyers Association of Xiamen City and Mr. HUANG Yu visited our ULC. Mr. George, director of our ULC and several lawyers gave a warm reception for them. They communicated and discussed experience of how to administrate lawyers’ firm successfully.

On Apr. 20, 2008, Mr. George, director of our ULC was employed as the special correspondent for Press Center of Journal of Legal System and Society with letter of engagement.

On Apr. 11, 2008, at the invitation of Municipal Office of Xiamen City Law of Government and Xiamen Public Security Bureau, Mr. George, director of our ULC and several lawyers from our ULC participated in the campaign for offering consultation and publishing the theory of “Harmonious Society, Safe Electricity” of Electricity Law of the People's Republic of China. This campaign provided law consultation for citizens, and caused a great sensation.

On Apr. 5, 2008, in order to enhance the communication with universities, select elitists, promote brand recognition of our ULC, with a co-host arrangement with Business School of Huaqiao University, we sponsored the 8th of “The ULC” Cup of “Managers” Challenge, and gave cash support to them. Mr. George, director of our ULC and several lawyers from our ULC participated in this campaign. At the same time, Lawyer CHENG Zhangyi gave lecture of how to administrate lawyers’ firm well, and it got great response.

In honor of “3·15” World Consumer Rights Day, to publicize the “Consumption and Responsibility” Year, “The Campaign to Publicize 3·15 World Consumer Rights Day in 2008, and Consumption and Responsibility”, which is presided over by Xiamen City Maintaining Consumers Rights Association and other departments, was held on the morning of Mar. 15, 2008 in SM Shopping Mall, Huli District. Director George TU and several lawyers from our ULC participated in this campaign and answered a lot of questions for consumers. The host of this campaign was awarded the certificate of “Advanced Enterprise and Individual for Maintaining Consumers Rights in Xiamen City”. HE Lingyun, lawyer from our ULC, was also awarded as the advanced individual for maintaining consumers rights.
At the same time, Xiamen Quality Supervision Bureau, Xiamen Price Bureau, Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, Xiamen Food and Drug Supervision Administration, Xiamen City Tobacco Monopoly Bureau, Xiamen Wine Monopoly Administration Bureau, Bureau of Health of Xiamen City, Xiamen Salt Administration Bureau and other functional departments also received the consultations and complaints from the consumers, and taught them how to identify commodities from imitations.

On Mar. 15, 2008, George TU and many lawyers from our ULC together with teachers and students from Legal Assistance Center of Jiageng College of Xiamen University publicized “3·15” Maintaining Consumer Rights and provided consultations at South Door of Xiamen Zhongshan Park and Xiamen Huli Baile Door. The purpose of this campaign was to take the knowledge of maintaining consumer rights deeply rooted in the hearts of people, enhance the awareness of maintaining consumer rights, establish the concept and atmosphere of “Harmonious Consumption”, and thus promote the consciousness and capacity of self-protection, and guide consumers to consume scientifically, reasonably and in civilized ways. This campaign was highly appreciated by the spot persons.

On Dec. 29, 2007, the first award ceremony of “Chonghui Scholarship of the Universal Legal Corporation” which was established by our ULC and School of Law, Jiageng College of Xiamen University, was held in our ULC. Our Director George TU and the head of School of Law, Jiageng College of Xiamen University, LIN Xiuqin participated in this ceremony. At the beginning of this ceremony, students of School of Law, Xiamen University carried out a pubic show of mock play. LIN Xiuqin and George TU published a list of persons who receiving “Chonghui Scholarship”. George TU made a speech on the ceremony, and expressed his congratulations to the awarded students. The “Chonghui Scholarship” was established in this year and would be lasted for ten years. The total amount of the scholarship was RMB 450,000. The purpose of this scholarship was to honor the late Lady YE Huizhu, who was one of the founders of our ULC and the supervisor and CFO of our ULC, and was also to encourage the students of Jiageng College to work harder.

On the afternoon of Mar. 26, 2008, the program of “Together to Maintain Consumers Rights” which was cooperated by Xiamen Maintaining Consumers Rights Association and Xiamen News Broadcasting Station was first broadcasted on radio. Our director George TU who was one of consultants of laws of maintaining consumers rights and MA Ding who was the chief of secretary of Xiamen Maintaining Consumers Rights Association participated in the live broadcast of this program. They answered questions of “eating fishbone from codfish hamburg”, “Do maintenance by imposture of “Prima”” etc. from consumers in the view of consumption and laws and cooperated with the theme of “consumption and responsibility” Year. They stated the respective social responsibility of consumers, operators and governments. This program was held from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm every afternoon of Wednesday on FM 99.6 on radio.

In order to meet with the need of developing business relating to foreign affairs, to improve the business level of lawyer doing business relating to foreign affairs, our ULC decided to hold the Legal English Corner periodically. The first Legal English Corner was held at 4:45 pm of Apr. 1 in the training room of our ULC.
In this activity, KUANG Hui, lawyer from our ULC, introduced relevant issues of the Legal English Corner such as holding time, place and contents. LIAN Sun, lawyer from our ULC, who is good at dealing with business relating to foreign affairs, made a lecture about Drafting English Agreement for the spot participants, and it was highly appreciated.

Recently, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu was awarded to be one of “Ten Outstanding Young Lawyer of Fujian Province”. It was a fully definition and encouragement for the business skill and professional moral of Lawyer TU.

On Mar. 5, 2008, at the invitation of Xiamen YMCA Youth Union, lawyers from our ULCC LIN Xiufeng and LIN Lianggui and CHENG Wangli took part in “Learn from LEI Feng, Free Legal Service into Community” Activity in Zhongshan Community, and offered free legal information for residents. It is highly appreciated.

On Mar. 2, 2008, at the invitation of Zhenxing Residential Community, lawyers from our ULCC JIANG Zhengxing, CHEN Shaowei, LIN Xiufeng and LIN Lianggui took part in “Learn from LEI Feng, Behave Politely and Kindly” Organizing Harmony Community Activity, and gave free legal information for residents. It got highly response.

Recently, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu and Lawyer ZENG Jian, as senior lawyers and famous legal specialties, were formally employed to be members of Xiamen Labor Disputes Arbitration Committee.

Recently, the original director of Policy Department and deputy team leader of Discipline Inspection of Xiamen City Judicial Bureau Mr. LI Rongjue, and the original chief of Xiamen City Judicial Base Work Station Mr. CHEN Shenshui joined into our lawyer team successively. It gave our ULCC chances to continuing offer more standardized legal service.

Recently, Miss KE Yalan worked as full-time English Secretary for our ULCC. Her entering provided stronger English translating strength for the development of our foreign legal issues.

On Feb. 26, 2008, examined and approved by Fuzhou City Judicial Bureau, Universal Legal Corporation, Fuzhou Branch set up formally. The establishment of this branch marked the 4th sub-branch and the 2nd branch of our office was formally born. It is a big issue of the process to become a big office.

Recently, our lawyer HE Lingyun was awarded as “Advanced Individual for Xiamen City Consumption Rights Safeguarding of Year 2006-2007”. It gave a big encouragement for our lawyers who focused on consumption rights safeguarding for public good.

Recently, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu was elected to be the member of Fujian Province People's Political Consultative Conference and the caller who called out every member in the team. It is not only a definition to our lawyer, but also an important reflection of our lawyer to participate in and discuss government and political affairs, and play the power of people from new social class.

On Feb. 14, 2008, upon the invitation of Siming District Wucun Street Office and Working Committee of CPC, four lawyers from ULCC, including CHEN Shaowei, WANG Yumei offer free legal consultations service for every one in Xingguang Dadao Square, East Hexiang Road. This free legal consultation service wins highly accolades. At the same time, there is a big performance of dancing and singing show with the theme of “Fashion East Hexiang, Happy Shopping Week”. It gives us a pleasant holiday atmosphere.

According to the estimation of Xiamen Legal Aid Brief published by Xiamen City Legal Aid Center, our ULCC has handled 84 that sort of cases. The quantity of our ULCC’s legal aid cases is on the top 2 in the kind of legal aid cases handled by Xiamen Legal Office; of which, if considering the cases of aiding farmer workers, the quantity of our ULCC’s legal aid cases is on the top 1 in Xiamen City. The aiding case of our ULCC is one of the only two cases which are commented on Xiamen Legal Aid Brief. Our ULCC is a big public minded office. We will keep on assigning many senior lawyers to serve for legal aiding.

On Feb. 2, 2008, our director and lawyer Tu Chongyu personally gives an annual training to all our administrative staffs and lawyers having management duties from head office and branches. In the training, Lawyer Tu looks back to birth and growth process of our ULCC, and suggests nine developing strategies, such as “Good Management Improves Efficiency”, “Menu Type of Service” and “Providing Excellent Service with Reasonable Price for Everyone”. These strategies provide a good theory foundation for the following smoothly developing in the future.

On Feb. 1, 2008, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu held Aunnual 2007 Summary Session in our meeting room. Lawyer Tu introduces our strong team of lawyers and administrative staffs one by one, and look back to the big accomplishments and progresses obtained in the last year. The most important mentioned points are the future developing direction and the core strength we need build. Then all of our staffs can work more colorfully and powerfully.

On Jan. 6, 2008, upon the invitation of Service Center for Peasants Job Seekers into Cities of Xiamen City General Work Union, the station chief of Rights Safeguarding Station for Farm Workers of Fujian Province Lawyers Association, with the theme of “Can I – Worker’s Rights Safeguarding under <Labor Contract Law>”, our ULCC’s chief partner and director TU Chongyu lawyer held an excellent and wonderful discussion for the peasants job seekers into cities.

On Jan. 4, 2008, at the invitation of Xiamen Software Park and Xiamen Software Industry Investment Company, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu make a wonderful speech on Labor Contract Law to forty and more relevant offices.

Happenings in 2007:

On Dec. 29, 2007, Year 2007 Report Conference of Fujian Provice Lawyer Association Farmer Worker Rights Safeguarding (Xiamen) Station was held highly in our training room. Deputy Chief of this work station YE Jianfeng lawyer read the annual report of 2007, and then the lawyer for public good of this station CHEN Fumeng made a wonderful speech on Farmer Worker Rights Safeguarding Report, and finally our director and chief of this station TU Chongyu lawyer concluded this conference and announced the direct phone call and the sample of employee’s card. Relevant medias focused on and reported us in the whole course.

On Dec. 29, 2007, the take-over ceremony of “Chonghui Scholarship” was held highly in our ULCC. Our director and lawyer TU Chongyu and the leader of Law Faculty of Xiamen University Jiageng College awarded prizes to the student representatives of those who got the first annual scholarship. Then the awarded student representatives made statements and expressed their appreciation to our ULCC.

On Dec. 29, 2007, the public show of moot court of Law Faculty of Xiamen University Jiageng College was held in the training room of our Universal Legal Corporation. Lawyers from our ULCC HUANG Hai, YE Jianfeng, ZENG Jian made colorful comments on them, and the chief of Law Faculty LIN Xiuqin also made a general comment on this moot court.

On Dec. 27, 2007, at the invitation of Xiamen City Overseas Chinese Office, lawyer-at-invitation of counsel of Municipal Overseas Chinese Office and our director TU Chongyu Lawyer took part in “The 10th Saloon of Honor Citizen of Overseas Chinese-owned Enterprise” which was held in Swan Grand Hotel, and made a speech of Labor Contract Law on the problems which may be faced by enterprises in Xiamen City for honor citizens in Xiamen and overseas Chinese-owned enterprises, and answered the questions from relevant enterprises and citizens.

On Dec. 26, 2007, at the invitation of Tong’an District Taiwan Businessmen Associaton, Xiamen City, and consigned by Director TU Chongyu, lawyer from our ULCC CHENG Zhangyi made a speech of new regulations on the new Labor Contract Law for relevant employers in Haoxianglai Grand Hotel, Tong’an.

On Dec. 25, 2007, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu took part in Policy Status Report of Xiamen Municipal Government, and listened to and learned carefully about the report of Mayor LIU Cigui.

On Dec. 21, at the invitation of Law Faculty of Xiamen University, our director and our director and lawyer TU Chongyu made a student speech for “Legal Hospital” of this faculty. It is lively and cheerful. To this speech, Lawyer TU did with skill and ease.

On Dec. 20, organized by Trade Improving Union and Mediation Center of Xiamen International Commerce Union, with the theme of “Foreign Business Contract Law and Practice”, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu made a speech for relevant persons in Puli Garden Building. It got cheerful response.

On Dec. 8, focused on the Labor Contract Law which is coming to be effect, with the theme of Do I Obey Law?, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu made a speech in Xiamen City Taiwan Businessmen Investment Enterprise Association formally. It is estimated that representatives of more than 190 enterprises took part in this speech. After listening to and learning about the lecture of Lawyer TU, the representatives made statements, and it was cheerful. And then Focus within 10 Minutes Column of Xiamen TV Station interviewed Lawyer TU and made a report on him.

On Dec. 4, 2007, in order to answer to activity of “12.4” National Law Publicity Day, our ULCC assigned our lawyers to take part in the law publicity acitivities of all districts in Xiamen City. Of which, lawyer from our ULCC CHEN Shaowei and JIANG Zhengxing took part in free information for “12.4” law publicity day which was organized by Xiamen City Judicial Bureau; lawyer from our ULCC XIE Chunfa and CHEN Fumeng took part in “Year 2007 “12.4” Law Publicity Activity in Xiang’an District” which was organized by Xiang’an District Judicial Bureau. In addition, as one part of the law publicity, on Dec. 2, at the invitation of Xiamen University, our ULCC assigned our lawyers YE Jianfeng and RAO Xiaoying provided spot legal guide for the legal aid activity held by Xiamen University at the door of Huli Baile Hotel and in Yefengzhai.

On Dec. 1, 2007, the Branch of Chinese Party of our ULCC, the sub-branch of Communist Youth League and the Work Union together with lawyers from our ULCC and all administrative staffs visited Tianzhu Mountain. At that time, the outing bus team organized by our lawyers set forth on time, and then some climbed the hill, some looked around and had tastes of the country cousin. Finally, we had dinner together and returned after thoroughly enjoying ourselves.

On Nov. 23, 2007, after passing Labor Arbitration Certificate Test held by Provincial Labor and Social Welfare Room, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu and the deputy director and lawyer ZENG Jian were invited to take part in the training of Labor Contract Law of Municipal Arbitration and the ceremony of new employed certificates issuing, and took the Labor Arbitration Certificate, and then became the part-time municipal labor arbitration.

On Nov. 17, 2007, our director and lawyer TU Chongyu was invited to take part in Year 2007Annual Conference of Fujian Province International Law, and made a theme speech on How to Develop Cross-border Legal Service for China- ASEAN Free Trade Area-a thinking of a Chinese Certified Attorney.

On 20 October,at the invitation of Center of Help for Employees of Xiamen General Union, Mr. Tu Chongyu, the director of ULCC, altogether with other related lawyers went to BAiluzhou to answer the legal questions of the local citizens and workers from other provinces, which is the major part of 7th Readers’ Festival held by Xiamen Daily. Lawyers from ULCC, including Chen Fumeng, Xie Chunfa, Kuanghui and Xiaolin passionately helped the continual flows of people with their questions. They also elaborated the new regulations of Labor Contract Law, based on the theme of “Publicize and Implement the Labor Contract Law in order to constitute harmonious work relations.”

On 14 Oct.,the third Xiamen Lawyers’ Forum was grandly opened in the International Conference Hall on the 5th floor of Zhongxin Hotel in Xiamen.Lawyers who attended the Forum offered their insightful opinions on the culture construction of lawyers.The Forum also listed the names of the theses which were complimented.Two theses from ULCC,respectively by lawyer Xu Changqing and Lintao,won Excellent Award.

On 28 Sept.,the 5th anniversary of ULCC and a summary of work were held in the conference room of ULCC.Then,all employees actively took part in the mooncake gambling game in Jin Yongfu restaurant with Lawyer Kuanghui winning the championship.At the dinner party following,all wished ULCC a brighter future

On 26 Sept.,Putian Sub. of ULCC was officially founded on the second floor of Building 143 on City Ring Road in Licheng District in Putian.In that afternoon.The director of ULCC,Tu Chongyu as well as partners of ULCC.Representatives of lawyers and related administrative stuff attended the opening ceremony.They were warmly welcomde by the related authorities of Putian,who sincerely hope that ULCC can help to improve the ability of lawyers in Putian with its successful experience in Xiamen in order to perfect the legal environment in Putian Sub. is known as the first non-local legal firm with an unprecedented scale.

From September 8 to September 11 2007 , the 11 th CIFIT was held in Xiamen International Convention Center . As the director of legal Corp. in exhibition, Mr. Tu Chongyu went to the exhibition center to answer the questions of investors and enterprises from home and abroad both in Chinese and English. The topic involved a lot, including intellectual property right, contracts, real estate and so on.?? During this period, lawyers from ULC respectively took part in series of conferences, such as Capital Forum -1 st RMB Private Enquiry Fund Summit 2007, The 6 th Roundtable for Partnership of International Chambers of Commerce, “ Hong Kong – Your Platform to Go Global ” Forum – Capitalize on Hong Kong ’ s Financial Services for International Expansion, Symposium on Some Forward Looking Questions in Legislation on Foreign Investment, Sino – Europe Investments and M ＆ A, Symposium on International Treaty on the Protection and Promotion of Investments and Cyprus – The Gateway to EU, Middle East on North Africa Markets.

On September 10 2007 , in the 4 th council of the Fujuan Chinese Overseas Friendship Association held in Fuzhou , the director of ULC Mr. Tu Chongyu was appointed a member of the standing committee for the first time. Vice minister of the Central United Front Work Department, party secretary of Fujian province Lu Zhangong and Governor of Fujian Province Huang Xiaojin attended the council. It ’ s reported that only two professional lawyers ( both are provincial CPPCC Members) were employed as a member of the standing committee in the council.

On September 9 2007 , as a member of the standing committee, the director of ULC was invited to the Fifth Third Council (enlarged) of Xiamen Overseas Chinese Friendship Association held in Xiamen Hotel.??? In the council, CPC Xiamen standing committee, minister of municipal United Front Work Department, president of Xiamen Chinese Overseas Friendship Association Ou Yangjian awarded certificates to newly-employed honorary president, vice president, standing director and director.

On August 30 2007 , Fujian Complaints Coordination Center for Taiwan Merchants held the first appointment ceremony for specially-employed lawyers. The director of ULC was among them. He will fully take advantage of being a lawyer by communicating and coordinating with Taiwan Merchants actively to meet their legal demands. Meanwhile, believing prevention and work first, he will introduce new laws and regulations, operating procedures as well as legal constructions to them. This activity will be normalized so as to exert lawyers ’ functions in the communications between the mainland and Taiwan to an ultimate extent.

On August 30 2007, the Judicial Bureau of Xiang ’ an sub-branch in Xiamen, legal aid center and Neicuo Judicial Bureau held series of propaganda activities called “ laws enter rural areas ” in Liantang village Neicuo town Xiang ’ an district in Xiamen which was after “ laws enter enterprises ” as part of “ three enters of legal service ” carried by ULC. Chen Fumeng from IULC was invited to the propaganda activities. He passionately answered villagers ’ legal questions and taught them legal common sense as well as legal knowledge on Road Traffic Security Ordinance. All these activities show the determination of related bureaus in Xiang ’ an district in dissemination of laws and administrating lawfully.

From August 29 to September 1 in 2007, director of ULC Tu Chongyu and vice director Zengjian took part in the training of part-time arbitrators held by Fujian Labor Office. If qualified, they both would become officially part- time arbitrators of Xiamen Labor Disputes arbitration commission.

On August 28 2007 , ULC organized an anonymous variance election to establish 1st union committee which was admitted by Xiamen Union Committee according to [2007] 31 documents. Linzhi is the president of the union committee, Chen Qiaoqiao the presiding director. The tenure of this union committee is three years. The union committee is an epitome of democracy in ULC.

On August 28 2007 , Lin Liguo and Cheng Fumeng as members of legal platform of Complaints Bureau in Haicang district Xiamen met the visiting group and answered their questions on the distribution of land requisition compensation, property management disputes etc. From then on, lawyers such as Cheng Fumeng, Jiang Zhengxing Lin Liguo and Xie Chunfa will work in Complaints Bureau in Haicang regularly, meeting visiting citizens and guiding them to solve problems in legal manners so as to exert lawyers ’ functions. What ’ s more, they will provide trainings on the rules of petition.

On August 28 2007 ， a grand ceremony was held in ULC to celebrate the founding of the first UIC basketball team with Tu Chongyu the leader, He Linyun the captain and the cheer team with Rao Xiaoxing the leader.?? This activity responded to the theme practice: “ lawyers offer service for the construction of a harmonious communist society. ” Taking players ’ security into consideration, ULC has paid Personal accident insurance for every member.

Around the same time, our director Mr. Tu Chongyu was reemployed a member of the Expert Panel, Committee of International and Judicial Affairs, the People ’ s Congress of Xiamen Municipality. It ’ s learned that it is the only expert panel among all NPC special committees in Xiamen.

About the same time, Mr. He Linyun from ULC taught the course “ Legal Basis for Entrepreneurship Training ” once again under the request of “ one person plus one group ” Entrepreneurship Training Project held by Labor and Social Security Bureau in Xiamen. As a result of nice social feedback, Mr. He has taught more than ten lessons. As the essence of “ one person plus one group ” Entrepreneurship Training Project which means to help one ambitious person start business, bringing job opportunities for a group of people, the training course aims at establishing firm legal basis for Small employers, Laid-off staff and other people who have the intention to create their own business. Mr. He said that he would continue the course and try all his effort to teach relevant people legal knowledge so as to exert the social duty of a lawyer.

In August 10, our director Tu Chongyu was invited to the general meeting of legal adviser delegation for overseas enterprise held by the overseas office under state council. Vice minister of Judicial Bureau Chen Xunqiu and director of the overseas office under state council Li Haifeng made important speeches in the meeting. Leaders of different levels had friendly communications with the legal adviser delegation.

In August 9, our director Tu Chongyu was invited to the 2007 International Clinic Legal Education and Legal Occupation Forum – Seminar, sponsored by Professional Legal Education Committee, Legal Education and Research Clinic, China Law Society, co – sponsored by legal aid and commonwealth committee of ALL China Lawyer ’ s Association, organized by School of Law, Peking University. All staff attending the seminar discussed some hot issues such as the development of the International Clinic. ULC also have planned to have further discussion with Xiamen University on Clinic education.

In August 8, our director Tu Chongyu as well as two other lawyers Ye Jianfeng and Rao Xiaoying attended the lecture on the difficulties of Labor Contract Law in the process of practice held by Xiamen Enterprises and Entrepreneurs Association.in Xi amen People’s Hall. The lecture has a profound impact on further understanding of Labor Contract Law. ULC itself also intend to open lectures on Labor Contract Law in order to make all lawyers in ULC understand the essence of this law better.

In Augest 4, our director Tu Chongyu taught primary students taking part in legal summer campus a legal education course on the protection of young adults under 18 year in central primary school in Dongfu town Haicang district. Mr. Tu answered their various questions about law with reference to related laws and regulations in plain and humorous words so that their legal concepts are able to be deepened. “ Three Enters of Law ” - law enters community, law enters rural areas and law enters schools are one of the main contents of theme practice called “ lawyers offer service for the construction of a harmonious communist society ” carried out by ULC.

In the afternoon of August 2ed, municipal Consumer Protection Association held a meeting summing up work in last half year. The general secretary of municipal Consumer Protection Association Mading introduced and summarized the work of the association in the last half year. As the vice colonel of the association, our director Tu Chongyu came up with pertinent suggestions on work in next half year. His advice is of great help to strength legal aid of the association.

From July 23 to 26, as a member of CPPCC, Fujian provincial committee, Mr. Tu Chongyu went Quanzhou to inspect the activity targeting at “ protect the interests of the disabled; contrive to help the disabled to attain employment ” . He expressed his opinions on this activity and offered some valuable suggestions.

In the afternoon of July 18, the propaganda activity of “ Law Enters Rural Areas ” was held in Xiang ’ an Lamp Plant of Lisheng Electronic & Lighting (XIAMEN) CO., Ltd. Mr. Tu taught a vivid and easily understandable legal education course on safe production. After the course, a contest with presents on legal knowledge and legal advisory services provided by lawyer Cheng Fumeng and Jiang Zhengxing went on well.

In July 14,Guidelines for Taiwan Business Related Lawyers whose drafting out ULC took part in is inspected and admitted by the seventh standing committee council of Fujian Lawyer ’ s Association. This is the first published guidelines on Taiwan related business, signifying an improvement in our capability to deal with Taiwan related business.

In the afternoon of June 9, “ the opening ceremony of rights protecting volunteers & a spot legal advisory ” was held by municipal general union in SM City Plaza. The number of the first group of volunteers is eighty-seven among whom twenty-four are from ULC. in addition, Mr. Tu made a speech on the behalf of all volunteers.

Lawyer Du aiying and Ye Jianfeng has started their service hotline in “ Warm?? Sunset ” program, devoted themselves to helping senior citizens. The service hotline of “ Warm Sunset ” was initiated by Xiamen Aging Committee office, Xiamen telecom sub-branch, Xiamen Activity Center for the Aged, Xiamen “ Warm Sunset ” special telephone line for the aged and Xiamen Evening Newspaper.

In the morning of May 25, vice director of ULC Zengjian signed legal service contracts with Security and Health Service Center in Siming district on Mingfa Commercial Plaza on behalf of lawyers working as rights protecting volunteers in Siming district. At the same time, Civilization Commission Office in Siming district awarded an oriflamme to ULC. In addition, several lawyers joined in the spot legal advisory.

In the morning of May 25, vice director of ULC Zengjian and special assistant Ding Hanchun attended “ the Conference of Exchanging Experience in Building Municipal Civilized Working Units ” presided by Xiamen Airline Crew Team, Xiamne Municipal Civilization Commission Office. The Civilization Office has decided to make ULC a typical example of “ Create Civilized Working Units, Harmonize West Coast of Taiwan Strait ” contest from 2006 -2008 in Xiamen. ULC is the only legal agency among eighty-one typical examples in thirty-eight occupations in Xiamen .Lawyers from ULC were invited to 2007 publicity week of protecting intellectual property. Besides, both two cases Lawyer Tu Chongyu joined in were regarded among ten important intellectual property protecting events In Xiamen in 2006 – the activity of inviting public biding on the exclusive copyright of “ Yi Zhongtian ’ s Understanding of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms” and brand disputes between Fireflylighting company and Siemens OSram on trademark “ Firefly ” .Minister of Legal Department of Municipal Union Chen Chaoying was entrusted by Municipal Union to do survey and research in ULC, and has enormously agreed with the director Tu Chongyu on the establishment of union in ULC and ULC ’ s taking part in union legal aids.

On April 14, a research group with director of provincial board of supervisors of lawyer’s association Zheng Xinzhi its team leader, Tu Chongyu, Linchen its members came to Xiamen to make survey and research, communicated with the director of municipal board of supervisors of lawyer’s association Zheng Zhenhui and inspected ULC.After scrupulous nomination and selection from related departments our director Tu Chongyu was employed as a special-invited supervisor of the Public Security Department of Fujian Province to supervise the duty-carrying out situation of all levels of Public Security Departments and all police in the whole province. There are three lawyers being employed in total. This achievement signified a new development of Tu Chongyu in carrying out the duty of a member of CPPCC in democratic supervision.
